With spring just around the corner, you've probably considered doing a spring cleaning. This is always a good idea in the lead up to summer, and it's a wonderful opportunity to double-check that all of your household appliances are in functioning order.
Boilers are one of the appliances that are frequently forgotten, yet it is critical to be aware of them. If you haven't observed any severe problems, it doesn't mean you shouldn't inspect your boiler. Your boiler has been working consistently over the winter and it is very important to carry out some maintenance services.
Our heating engineers have put together this guide to help you get your boiler ready for spring.
How do I get my boiler ready for spring?
Look out for leaks
Leaks can happen at any time, and when they occur they can be very unexpected. Unfortunately, if it's been a particularly cold winter, pipes are more likely to freeze and expand. This can cause them to burst because when they are thawed, it forces them out of alignment.
To get a better idea of whether the parts are still in place and tightly connected, check the seals around the edges of the boiler. if you just keep an eye on the seals around the edges of the boiler. We also recommend keeping an eye out for any drips as even a minor leak will require attention.
Reduce the temperature
With the temperature rising outside, your home starts to warm up as well. This is a great chance to reduce the temperature on your thermostat as it can massively help with reducing your overall heating bills.
Be aware of blockages
If you don't pay attention to your boiler, you could end up with a few boiler blockages without even noticing it. When the central heating is turned on, a blockage clears out rapidly. This is a rather regular occurrence, especially in early spring, when you either won't be able to obtain any heat or the heat won't be what you expected.
