Do I need a plumber or a heating engineer?

Even though plumbers and heating engineers carry out similar jobs, there are a few things that either a plumber or a heating engineer can only do. Here at Atom Gas Ltd, we go through when you should hire either a plumber or a heating engineer!

plumber vs heating engineer

When should I call a heating engineer?

Heating engineers are trained to install, service and repair your home's heating system. This includes:

- Boilers

- Unvented cylinders

- Radiators

- Thermostats

- Other components on your central heating systems

All heating engineers need to be Gas Safe registered, to ensure they are fully qualified to carry out heating services. Also, it is required by law to hire Safe Registered engineers to service your boiler. You will be glad to know that all of our engineers across Whitstable, Canterbury and Ramsgate are Gas Safe registered.

When should I call a plumber?

A plumber should be called when you are experiencing issues or need to install appliances that involve water. Some of the work they carry out include:

- Blockages

- Leaks

- Full bathroom installations

- Issues with toilets

We offer a range of general plumbing services, speak to a member of our team by calling us on 01227 678047

Who should I use for my heating or plumbing job?

Both vary and require a range of skills, for example, an experienced boiler engineer is incredibly skilled in repairing all types of boilers and may not get as involved in replacing radiators whereas a plumber would not only install a new bathroom but will be happy to also install a new radiator and replace a thermostat.

Many tradesmen are multi-talented and are fully trained and qualified to help with a range of services that you may require, simply ask if they are able to help you with a service that you are looking for.
